Situated at the meeting point of two Highways, Mahendra Highway and Siddhartha Highway, the business and communication center equipped with sufficient educational base and environment, Butwal is renowned one in the Western Region of Nepal. To fulfill the need of management specialists in the community, Lumbini Banijya Campus (LBC) was formally established in 2038 BS aiming at further development in the field of management education with the long-term vision of local people and with active role and cooperation of Butwal Municipality and Butwal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI).
The political revolution in 2036 BS and its effects in the field of education inspired the sensible people to establish a college to educate management subjects in Butwal. By 2037 BS, it became difficult for Tribhuvan University (TU) to manage the increasing number of students and formed the policy of giving affiliation to colleges in public and private sectors. An eleven member management committee was formed and LBC started PCL classes in Kanti Secondary School in 2037 BS. There were only 136 students, five part-time teachers, one office assistant and a peon. Though application for affiliation to TU was submitted in 2037 BS, but it was approved from the academic session of 2038 BS. So, the students who were admitted in the session of 2037 BS got appeared in the examination as private students.
On 8 Falgun 2038, LBC was formally inaugurated by contemporary Vice President of National Planning Commission, Dr. Mohan Man Sainju in the building of Butwal Municipality Ward No. 3 to conduct PCL classes in morning shift. Security amount of Rs 80,000 (rupee eighty thousand) in TU was borrowed from Butwal Municipality. To cover all expenses apart from students’ fee, 0.15 percent tax was collected from all the goods carried in Butwal in agreement with Butwal Municipality and Butwal Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It continued until its new building was constructed at Butwal Municipality, Devinagar in 2039 BS. Later Navin Industrial Primary School provided 2-5-0 area of land and the same area of public land were added, and then B.Com. Classes commenced by 2042 BS. In the beginning, there were only 42 students in B.Com. First Year. Later, PCL level was started in the day shift too. According to the demand of time, Computer Classes were started in 2050 as additional subject. LBC got approval from TU to conduct MBS classes in 2057 BS phasing out the PCL. BBS and MBS classes of TU are properly running facing all ups and downs in rapid speed.
